Chinook Club of America (CCA) is a dynamic AKC Parent Club, supporting the Chinook Breed.  Founded by Chinook owners and breeders who had the motivation and the ability to meet certain goals, objectives, and AKC requirements, it takes Chinook owners like you to ensure that a healthy and long-lived Breed is carried forward into the future.

CCA is looking for participation: members and volunteers who love the Chinook Breed and who wish to see the Chinook thrive so our children's children may enjoy the love and joy of living with this amazing breed!

Membership Benefits

 American Kennel Club Recognition
Chinooks became eligible to compete in the AKC Working Group on January 1, 2013.
AKC clubs across the country offer shows, trials and tests for our Chinooks, including Meet the Breeds and Responsible Dog Owner Day opportunities. CCA encourages  involvement, education and the participation in fun and educational dog events and activities for our members!

Chinook Standard
Chinook Club of America drafted the AKC Standard for the Chinook as well as the 2021 revision.  CCA works to educate Chinook owners, breeders and judges on the Standard as the blueprint description for the ultimate Chinook.

Registration
The Chinook Club of America encourages AKC registration for all Chinooks.  The Club has designed a owner /new registrant flyer that is distributed by AKC with each new registration certificate.

Activities
CCA provides support and education for those members who have an interest in  participating in the many diverse AKC events.  There are events for members with spayed, neutered  and senior Chinooks too!  CCA provides a supportive atmosphere for Chinook owners to come together to share information, seek assistance, and meet each other just to have fun.

                                                         CCA Committees
There is a place in CCA for all volunteers, regardless of experience!  Enthusiasm and love for our Chinooks is all that is needed!  What follows is a brief description of each committee's work.  Please contact our club president if you are interested in committee work!

Standards & Judges Education Committee educates our members, AKC judges and aspiring judges on the AKC Standard for the Chinook.

Show, Trial & Trail Committee hosts Club events, supported entries and the CCA National Specialty.

Publicity Committee produces and distributes our Club magazine, The Chinook Advocate.  Publicity updates this website, promotes activities and provides written and video materials for publications.  CCA Publicity maintains historic documents and photos relating to the Chinook.

Health & Genetics Committee works with veterinary researchers, owners and breeders to improve the health and longevity of our Chinooks and encourages participation in health screenings and research programs aimed toward breeding healthy, sound Chinooks.
