The Chinook Club of America (CCA) is a dynamic AKC  Parent Club that supports the Chinook Breed.  CCA was founded by Chinook owners and breeders who had the motivation and the ability to meet certain goals, objectives, and AKC requirements and now it takes Chinook owners like you to ensure that a healthy and long-lived Breed is carried forward into the future.

The Club is looking for  member participation, new members and volunteers who love the Chinook Breed and who wish to see the Chinook thrive in order that our children's children may enjoy the love and the joy of living with their Chinook dog.

Membership Benefits

American Kennel Club Recognition
Through the efforts of CCA members, The Chinook became eligible to compete in the AKC Working Group on January 1, 2013.  AKC clubs offer shows, trials and tests that Chinooks may participate in with locations across the country.  Meet the Breeds and Responsible Dog Owner Day are events supported by AKC that are available to Chinooks.  While  some members of the Chinook Club of America are active participants in American Kennel Club activities, there are other Chinook owners that may be new to the world of AKC.  CCA encourages involvement, education and the participation in fun and educational dog events and activities for our members.

The Chinook Standard
The Chinook Club of America drafted the AKC Standard for the Chinook.  The Club works to educate Chinook owners, breeders and judges alike on the Standard as the blueprint description for the ultimate Chinook.

Registration
The Chinook Club of America encourages AKC registration for all Chinooks.  The Club has designed a owner /new registrant flyer that is distributed by AKC with each new registration certificate.

Membership Diversity
CCA recognizes the importance of a wide variety of background experiences and interests in the leadership positions of the Breed Club as well as for all Club Members who wish to help.  Diversity adds a wealth of experiences for a  Club to draw upon to promote and further the Breed.  CCA invites members who want to help on committees to join members in promoting a strong, sound future for the Chinook Breed.  CCA has term limits on leadership positions to encourage greater participation and bring in new ideas.

Activities
Chinook owners are interested in many diverse activities for their Chinooks.  CCA provides support and education for those members who have an interest in  participating in AKC  events.  CCA encourages our  members with spayed, neutered  and senior Chinooks to participate in  these fun activities.  Because Chinooks live in many different areas of the country, CCA fosters and encourages a variety of gatherings such as supported Breed entries and trialing opportunities in different geographic areas.  We provide a supportive atmosphere for Chinook owners to come together to share information, seek assistance, and meet each other just to have fun.

As a club member, we encourage you to join a committee!

The Standards & Judges Education Committee  educates our members on the AKC Standard and introduces Chinooks to AKC judges and aspiring judges to provide education on the Standard for the Chinook.

The Show, Trial & Trail Committee hosts Club events, supported entries and the CCA National Specialty.

The Publicity Committee produces and distributes our Club newsletter, The Chinook Advocate, to all Members of the Club.     The Publicity Committee updates this website often to keep Chinook fanciers informed on what is happening in CCA and the Chinook breed.  Publicity also works on Meet the Breeds and Responsible Owners Day activities and provides articles on the Chinook for various publications.

The Rescue Committee is available to provide help with lost and found Chinooks.

The Health & Genetics Committee works with veterinary researchers to help improve the health and longevity of our Chinooks, and also encourage participation in health screenings and research programs aimed toward breeding healthy, sound Chinooks.  The Health & Genetic Committee works with Chinook owners, breeders, and Chinook clubs in these meaningful endeavors.

There is a place in CCA for everyone regardless of other breeds owned,  club affiliations, personal affiliations, or lack of any sort of affiliation!  Everyone has something to offer the future of our  beloved Chinook Breed!

Come join CCA as we move forward with this fun and exciting mission!

As a current CCA Member, you receive the Chinook Advocate newsletter, you have access to the “Members Only” section of the website, and can join the CCA-L, which is an online chat group for CCA members. Breeders and stud dog owners can apply for the CCA Breeders and Stud Dog Owner Program.  Nationwide Pet Insurance offers our members a discounted rate on pet vet insurance.
