Chuck, the Economic Stimulus Chinook (Forever Greene Moses Fisk) wants you to know Plaid Friday, Nov 27 Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, was a big success!
Chuck’s human, Dan Brown, is proud his Chinook was this year’s “Plaid Pet” for the region’s “shop local” event. Plaid Friday celebrates the diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses. It’s a fun and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday” consumer frenzy. Also, it’s a way to show your support for local economies.
Plaid Friday is part of the Shop Indie Local movement and includes other events such as Small Business Saturday, Cider Monday and Giving Tuesday. Shop Indie Local events can be found all over the U.S., supporting small, local businesses. Check it out—your community might be part of this growing movement!

Feb 15: Part of the AKC Museum of the Dog's Exhibition: Mush! A Tribute to Sled Dogs from Arctic Exploration to the Iditarod (Jan 6 — March 29) featured Chinooks on Feb 15! We had a great visit at the Museum of the Dog! A room full of people were waiting for the Chinooks to arrive and our beautiful dogs did not disappoint. The worked the room like pros. Going from 1.5 year old Toddler to Grandmas, handing out kisses and snuggles. They all got along with each other, which seemed to surprised some visitors.
We had 9 and 10 month old pups and an 8 year old with everything in between. We had two intact males that had no problem with each other and worked side by side meeting and greeting.
Chinook Stickers, Bookmarks and a picture flyer about the breed were handed out. The stickers were a hit with the kids and the Grandmas who took some with them for kids at home. CCA also provided a slide show, though the doggie ambassadors were the real hit!
Big Thank You to Patti Richards for working with AKC on this event, the owners who shared their Chinooks with the public, (Patti & Perry Richards w/Forever Greene's Nahla and Tagluk, MJ Crance and John Habermehl w/Sky, Jean Bouteiller w/Spook Nook Solo, and Andy & Robin Hafitz w/Munjabel and Emy) our gratitude to AKC Museum of the Dog for inviting us and to Debbie Crovitz for the great pics!

March 9: West Coast Meet the Breeds: The Seattle Kennel Club's WoofbyWoofWest Dog Show hosted a Meet the Breeds and Chinooks were there! Chinooks were strutting their stuff in the ring that morning and offered kisses to all who approached. Marleen Mandt, our organizer, and Oscar (CH Channahon’s Kikiah Tyee) headed the parade. Sarah Garrison and her daughter, Megan were there with Megan's dog Alexei, a 4H ambassador. Megan and Alexei are in 4H in Skagit County with the Kidz-n-K9s Club. Nancy Olson brought Bianca, Dave and Marianne Drucker showed off Koda and Jessie and Pam McMillan with Luna were part of the meet and greet. An AKC judge stopped by and everyone hung out long after our 30 minutes in the ring! Many thanks to all who helped introduce our wonderful breed!

All the Chinooks enjoyed the toys CCA handed out, so no one went home empty-handed!
There was a winter storm this day so attendance was down and we missed those who had to stay home due to travel conditions. But it was perfect Chinook weather! After the dogs were in the ring, some of us went out to the big field at the Eastern States Expo. We visited and ran dogs on snow with sleds. We had two people interested in the breed who had their first sled dog ride and were absolutely thrilled with their experience mushing and delighted with the Chinooks!
This is a great venue for both the breed ring and a place to let the Chinooks pull and play offering an opportunity to meet other owners, check out potential mates and meet future owners of the breed. Plenty of Doggie shopping rounded out a fun day!

Changes to AKC Rally Program
Effective Nov 1, 2017, AKC has created a new class and title for dogs that have won the Rally Novice title, but have not yet earned a qualifying score in the Advanced class. The Rally Intermediate class and associated title (RI), will provide a stepping-stone class to help prepare teams for the off-leash performance required in the Advanced class. The Intermediate course is a mirror image of the Advanced course without a jump. The RI title is not required to enter the Advanced class.
In addition to the new RI title, there will be a new Master class and associated title (RM), as well as the Rally Champion title (RACH). Follow the link for details: Rally Program Enhancements 03-10-17
